Following the success of ITBA Road Shows in recent years we will again host open a series of open meetings for breeders. The first two of these will take place on;
Tuesday, April 22nd 2014 – Millrace Hotel, Bunclody Co. Wexford ,8pm
Thursday, April 24th 2014 – Tipperary Racecourse, Co. Tipperary, immediately after racing
Dates and venues for the remaining road shows, which will take place after the Punchestown Festival and prior to the upcoming local government elections will be announced shortly. Entry to all open meetings is FREE and refreshments will be available.
Industry expert Elizabeth Headon will highlight the need for breeders to lobby local government candidates on behalf of their thoroughbred industry prior to local elections, which take place on 23rd May 2014
IFAC Tax Consultant Declan McEvoy will address the importance of prudent stud farm financial planning for all breeders and areas covered will include the advantages of a good set of business accounts, projection planning and land transfer to the next generation
Brochures with key lobbying messages and salient industry statistics will be distributed to all attendees.
All local Election Candidates, Councilors, TD’s and MEP’ s from each area will be invited to attend and be encouraged to promote the value of the industry in their areas during their campaigns
Commenting ITBA Manager Shane O’Dwyer said “At our National Seminar in January and subsequent meetings in Kildare and Galway we found that breeders are not as informed as they should be regarding the value of our industry to the economy, the threats facing the industry if the funding issue is not addressed and the tax incentives/initiatives available to breeders in the day to day running of their stud farms. These meetings will give an opportunity for breeders to be more informed when local election candidates call to the door in the coming weeks.”
Breeders unable to attend are encouraged to submit any questions they would like raised or discussed during the road shows to the ITBA HQ in advance of the meeting in their region. For further information contact ITBA HQ
